On a spiritual high : Students learn values of life

INDORE: About 660 students participated in the youth fest 'Drishti', aimed at inculcating spiritual values in students. An online quiz 'Oh My God India' was conducted by educational wing of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), in coordination with Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidhyalaya (RGPV), here at Sakhar Palace, Amitesh Nagar on Sunday.

The online registration for the quiz was open since June 1. Students from around 40 colleges of Indore, including Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS), Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), IPS Academy, Acropolis Institute of Technology and Research, Medicaps Group of Institutions and Lakshmi Narain College of Technology (LNCT), participated in the quiz.

Chanting the lines, 'Hare Krishna Hare Krishna' fest co-ordinator Praneshwar Das said, "Students were given two books on spiritual knowledge during the registration. They had to go through them and answer a set of 49 questions with an essay writing question in an hour." The 'mantra rock' session of the fest was aimed at feeling positive by chanting God's name and prayers.

"The main purpose behind the initiative was to motivate students and imbibe spiritual values in them, so that they can control their minds and push negative thoughts away, said ISKCON zonal secretary Mahaman Das. "It was a learning experience that taught us how to deal with situations and understand the meaning of life," said first prize winner Dileep Pandey.

The chief guest of the programme was RGPV vice chancellor Piyush Trivedi, who addressed the seminar on the topic 'role of spirituality on modern education' while in Q&A session, author Chaitanya Charan Das answered the questions asked by students, followed by the drama. Dileep Pandey won the competition and was given laptop as the prize. Chandra Bhanu stood second and won a tablet PC while Ragini Dogle secured third position and got a MP4 player.
